There are a variety of ways in which you can advertise your available rental property with Off-Campus Housing Services. These methods can be helpful for large apartment communities, private landlords, as well as individuals looking to sublet their current properties to University of Maryland students.

Fair Housing

Please note that due to fair housing laws, we cannot accept any advertisements that express any preference for the type of tenant to whom you would like to rent. This includes race/ethnicity, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, age, and/or student status. Additionally, any advertisements submitted to us including such preferences will be modified by our office to be in accordance with fair housing laws. For more information about fair housing laws, click here.

The OCH Database

This web based service allows you to create online listings for your properties. To create an account and manage your listings, simply visit the OCH Database and select “Member Login”  then select “Create an Account.”

Please note that all OCH Database listings are subject to a two-step approval process by Off-Campus Housing Services. Listings entered before 12pm, Monday through Thursday, will typically be approved by the close of business the same day. Listings placed after 12pm will be approved no later than 1pm the following business day. Listings entered after 4pm Friday will be approved the following Monday.

Bulletin Board

In addition to the OCH Database, we also have a bulletin board located within the Stamp Student Union to which you can post a free Rental Announcement. We have a standard form that we use for our bulletin board which needs to be filled out in order for us to advertise your availability. An electronic copy of the form can be completed here. Or a PDF version of this form can be accessed here. Once you have filled out the PDF form, you can bring it into our office, fax, or mail it to us. Listings are posted for two weeks.

Off-Campus Living Fairs

The Off-Campus Living Fair is a one-stop shop for incoming students, faculty, and staff to research their off-campus living options. Participants will get personal assistance with the what, when, and where of off-campus living; learn how to work with landlords/property owners; learn their legal rights as tenants and being a good neighbor; learn how to link off-campus living options with area transportation; and meet other off-campus students and potential roommates.

Newspaper

The Diamondback is the University of Maryland's daily, independent, student-run newspaper. To place an advertisement in the classifieds section, visit the online advertising page or call them at (301) 314-8000.

Scam and Fraud Awareness

Off-Campus Housing Services is aware of concerns about potential scams regarding rental properties. We advise landlords and renters alike to be alert when negotiating for rentals. The information provided here is to help you as you search for renters for your rental properties.
